The battle for the coveted Wooden Player of the Year award in men’s college basketball is between a pair of big men.

Purdue center and reigning National Player of the Year Zach Edey is the front-runner to secure the prestigious honor again.

Edey’s odds shortened to -450 (bet $10 to win $12.22 total) from -310 after his huge game Saturday in the 95-78 win over Penn State.

Edey dominated with 30 points, 20 rebounds, and three blocks.

Edey missed more shots from the free throw line (10-for-14 shooting, 71.4%) than he did from the floor (10-for-12 shooting, 83.3%).

Edey’s odds were +210 in early December. He’s averaging a double-double with, 22.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

There’s an interesting wager available for Edey’s chances to win the Wooden Award — betting Edey against every other player in the country.

Zach Edey wins Wooden Award

Yes: -450 (bet $10 to win $12.22 total)

No: +330 (bet $10 to win $43 total)

“I think in many ways, we take for granted just how amazing the 7-foot-4, 300-pound superstar hailing from Canada has been for Purdue, and all of college basketball,” FOX Sports college basketball writer John Fanta said. “Edey has done it all against the best of the best.

“His streak of 67 consecutive games scoring in double figures leads the rest of the country by 30.”

The next player on the board is Kansas’ Dickinson. Dickinson was held to 12 points and four rebounds in the 65-60 loss to UCF last Wednesday, but rebounded with 24 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday’s 78-66 win over then-No. 9 Oklahoma.

Like Edey, Dickinson is averaging a double-double at 19.2 points and 12 rebounds per game. Both players anchor top-five teams in the country, with Purdue at No. 2 and Kansas at No. 3.

Duke’s Filipowski made a surge up the list to +2500 from +6000, after he had a combined 56 points and 23 rebounds in two games, as the Blue Devils extended their winning streak to eight.
