FOX Sports Wagering Expert Chris “The Bear” Fallica has an under-the-radar player in mind to win the Golden Boot.
“I have my eye on someone way down the list to have a big month — Sweden’s Fridolina Rolfö,” Fallica said.
“Rolfö scored the goal which gave Barcelona the Women’s Champions League title last month, was tied for the team lead in goals during qualifying and isn’t afraid to try from distance. She will obviously have to compete with teammate Stina Blackstenius for goals, but if Sweden is to make a deep run, Rolfö will be a big reason why.”
PICK: Fridolina Rolfö +5000 top goalscorer (bet $10 to win $510 total)
Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman headline Aly Wagner’s top breakout stars to watch
So who are other candidates to win the Golden Boot?
On top of the board is USWNT forward Alex Morgan at +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total). Morgan is a USWNT vet who will be playing in her fourth Women’s World Cup. No stranger to scoring, she netted six goals for the USWNT in 2019. The nifty striker still has what it takes to hang with the youngsters, but can she hold her form for the WWC?
Right behind Morgan is teammate Sophia Smith at +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total). The 22-year-old Smith plays for the Portland Thorns in the NWSL where she is the league’s leading scorer (10 goals, five assists).
Known for her speed and craftiness with the ball, she is poised to be the superstar of a star-studded USWNT. She will have every opportunity to rack up the goals this summer in Australia and New Zealand.
Then there’s Australia’s Sam Kerr, widely seen as one of the best forwards of all time. At +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total), she offers tons of value. No stranger to scoring herself, the 29-year-old is the all-time leading scorer in the NWSL and is the only person to win three Golden Boots in three different leagues on three different continents.
