2024-25 NBA title odds: Knicks surge after Anunoby extension; Grizzlies rise

The Boston Celtics are NBA champions, winning their 18th title on June 17, the team’s first since 2008.

Can Boston go back-to-back and capture title No. 19 next season? The early odds indicate they can make another title run, after knocking off the Dallas Mavericks in five games in this year’s Finals.

But the path to another championship won’t be a cakewalk, with a number of real contenders in both conferences. And one of the Celtics’ Eastern Conference foes made a few huge moves this week, with the Knicks acquiring Mikal Bridges via trade from Brooklyn on Tuesday and then re-signing OG Anunoby on Wednesday.

All of the action has caused a major shakeup on the betting board, so let’s jump into movement.

After the big move on Tuesday that will bring Bridges to the Big Apple, the Knicks saw their title odds jump from +1600 to +1000, tying them at fifth on the oddsboard alongside the Bucks and Mavs, and only behind the Wolves, Thunder, Nuggets and Celtics.

But after New York gave Anunoby a five-year, $212.5 million deal on Wednesday, the Knicks jumped even more and are now tied for second on the betting board only behind the Celtics at +700.

The Nets traded Bridges for a package of Bojan Boganovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a first-round pick via the Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-round pick.

Bridges averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and a steal per game in 82 games with the Nets last season, and will now join a Knicks squad that features three of his former Villanova teammates — Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo — and finished a game shy of the Eastern Conference finals last season.

As for Anunoby, in 23 regular-season appearances with the Knicks last season, he averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals and one block.
