Week 2 of the college football season is in the books, and it did not disappoint.

From a betting perspective, at least one huge upset caused a major shift in title futures.

And remember, this season, the Playoff will feature 12 teams instead of four.

So with that in mind, let’s dive into the odds for some of the top teams at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Sept. 9.

Penn State Nittany Lions: +2200 (bet $10 to win $230 total)

Tennessee Volunteers: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)

Missouri Tigers: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)

LSU Tigers: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)

USC: +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total)

Clemson: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total)

Utah: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total)

Texas A&M: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total)

Notre Dame Fighting Irish: +8000 (bet $10 to win $810 total)

Georgia continues to hold steady as the favorite to win it all at +280 after defeating Tennessee Tech 48-3. The Bulldogs’ odds are slightly shorter than +300, which is where they sat in July.

Ohio State is also holding steady at +380, a shift from +400 after Week 1. Currently, at BetMGM, the Buckeyes are the biggest liability in this market.

Rounding out the top three is Texas at +500, moving to +750 after defeating Michigan 31-12. At 9.1%, the Longhorns at BetMGM are the third-highest ticket to be the last team standing.

While the win for UT helped boost its odds, the Wolverines fell to +12000 from +3500.

Another team whose championship futures took a tumble was Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish were 28-point favorites over visiting Northern Illinois. However, the Huskies ended up handing Notre Dame the biggest upset of Week 2, shockingly defeating the Irish 16-14.

Now, the Irish’s odds to win it all have fallen all the way to +8000 from +1600.

“There weren’t a whole lot of people playing Notre Dame -28 on their straight bets,” FOX Sports betting analyst Patrick Everson wrote. “And Notre Dame was in the -6000 to -8000 range on the moneyline, so that wasn’t attractive for straight bets, either. Even at -6000, it would take a $6,000 bet to win just $100.”

As we now know, moneyline wagers on the Irish in Week 2 were not profitable for bettors.

Instead, it was profitable for at least one sporstbook.

Zachary Lucas, director of retail sports for TwinSpires Sportsbook, told Everson that “Notre Dame’s outright loss” was a “massive” win for him and his team.
