2024 College Football Championship odds: Georgia favored; Texas, Oregon tied
The 2024 college football season has kicked off, and with Weeks 0 and 1 in the books, the championship odds are on the move.
Georgia continues to hold steady as the favorite to win it all at +280, slightly shorter than +300, which is where the Dawgs sat in July.
Ohio State is also holding steady at +400.
Texas, however, has moved up to +750 from +850.
Now the Longhorns are tied with Oregon for third in championship futures.
And remember, this season, the Playoff will feature 12 teams instead of four. So with that in mind, let’s dive into the odds for some of the top teams at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Sept. 2.
CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS:
Georgia Bulldogs: +280 (bet $10 to win $38 total)
Ohio State Buckeyes: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Texas Longhorns: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Oregon Ducks: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Alabama Crimson Tide: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Ole Miss Rebels: +1400 (bet $10 to win $150 total)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish: +1600 (bet $10 to win $170 total)
Penn State Nittany Lions: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)
Miami Hurricanes: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)
Tennessee Volunteers: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
LSU Tigers: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
Michigan Wolverines: +3500 (bet $10 to win $360 total)
First on the board is Georgia at +280.
UGA finished the 2023-24 season by beating Florida State 63-3 in the Capital One Orange Bowl. Quarterback Carson Beck — currently one of the Heisman favorites — returns for his fifth season after throwing for 3,738 yards and 22 touchdowns last year.
Ohio State is second on the board at +400.
The Buckeyes ended 2023 with a 14-3 loss to Missouri in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. One of the gems of the Buckeyes’ 2024 roster is Jeremiah Smith, the nation’s No. 1 prospect who’s already making his mark at Ohio State.
RELATED: Georgia, Ohio State vs. the field
Georgia and Ohio State are so far ahead of the other teams that one sportsbook is offering a wager that pits Georgia or Ohio State against the entire college football field!
FOX Sports betting analyst Patrick Everson spoke with college football sharp Paul Stone, who shared why this is a bet worth taking.
“I think Georgia and Ohio State are gonna be everybody’s 1 and 1A,” Stone said. “If forced to take one side or the other, I’d probably take the Georgia/Ohio State daily double, and let the other 132 teams take their shot.”
Tied for third at +750 are Texas and Oregon.
The Longhorns QB room is loaded with extraordinary talent, with Quinn Ewers starting and Arch Manning backing him up. Ewers helped lead the Longhorns to a CFP berth last season, throwing for 3,161 yards, 21 touchdowns and just six interceptions in the process.
And like Texas, the Ducks are confident in their quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
Oregon’s QB1 started 24 regular-season games for Oklahoma before transferring to Eugene. In two seasons as a Sooner, he completed 66% of his passes, threw for 6,828 yards, 55 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Taking a tumble after Week 1 was LSU. The Tigers lost 27-20 to USC and saw their odds move to +3000 from +1800.
