2024 Copa América odds, picks: Messi injury ‘nothing serious;’ Mexico tumbles after loss

The 16-team Copa América men’s soccer tournament is underway, and you can catch the action on FOX Sports and the FOX Sports app!

The tournament features the top squads from South America and North America and will take place from June 20-July 14 at 14 venues across the United States.

The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) is in Group C and played its first match on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against Bolivia , winning 2-0. That result, according to Patrick Everson, was a good result for one book in particular.

In that game, Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun scored the goals that lifted the U.S. past Bolivia.

Currently, the USA winning it all would be a good result for some oddsmakers. Originally, the USMNT’s odds remained steady at +1200 but have since lengthened slightly to +1400.

As for the futures market, Lionel Messi and Argentina are still the betting favorites at +150, with Brazil close behind at +240.

However, Brazil’s odds lengthened slightly from +225 as it tied 0-0 with Costa Rica on Monday in its first match of the tournament.

A team whose odds have surged up the board is Mexico. The team’s futures have moved to +1200 from +2500 since defeating Jamaica 1-0.

The group stage runs through July 2, with the quarterfinals taking place July 4-6.

The semifinals are July 9-10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The third-place match is on July 13 in Charlotte, and the final will be at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on July 14.

“In front of what could be a heavily pro-USMNT crowd in Atlanta, the 12th-ranked U.S. should be able to handle FIFA’s No. 41 team in theory. In practice, Los Canaleros have for years been a thorn in the Americans’ side, particularly in tournament play.

“While the USMNT holds a 17W-2L-7T advantage all-time, Panama beat the U.S. during the last World Cup qualifying cycle. It also eliminated the hosts from two of the last five Gold Cups, including in 2023.”
