2024 Heisman Watch: Ashton Jeanty remains on top, Cam Ward makes big leap
Week 8 of the college football season was filled with a little bit of everything, including upsets, highlight-reel moments, and plenty of movement on the Heisman Trophy leaderboard.
Despite having a bye this week, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty remains at the top of the Heisman leaderboard, but after an impressive showing in a win over Louisville, Miami QB Cam Ward made a big jump.
While Ward saw his Heisman stock rise, Colorado‘s Travis Hunter saw his stock take a hit after exiting the game with an injury for a second straight week, whileAlabama QB Jalen Milroe struggled in Alabama’s loss to Tennessee.
Here is a look at the current Heisman Trophy odds following a jam-packed Week 8:
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State: +220
Jeanty and the Broncos had a bye this week following a 28-7 win over Hawaii last weekend. The Broncos’ star back carried the ball 31 times for a jaw-dropping 217 yards and a touchdown in Boise State’s 28-7 win over the Rainbow Warriors. Jeanty has now topped the 200-yard rushing mark in three games this season, and he has totaled 1,248 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in six games.
Next: Jeanty and the Broncos travel to UNLV to take on the Rebels on Oct. 25.

Cam Ward, QB, Miami (Fla.): +260
Ward and the Hurricanes withstood several Louisville rallies from double-digit deficits to remain undefeated with a 52-45 win. Ward was exceptional in the victory, completing 21 of 32 passes for 319 yards and four touchdowns. Ward has thrown for 300-plus yards and three-or-more touchdown passes in six of Miami’s seven games this season. Those are Heisman-caliber numbers.

Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon: +400
Gabriel was exceptional once again in Oregon’s 35-0 win over Purdue on Friday night, marking the program’s first road shutout since 1992. The Ducks’ senior signal-caller completed 21 of 25 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns as Oregon improved to 7-0 and remained atop the Big Ten standings. If Gabriel maintains this pace and Oregon continues to win, it’s hard to envision a scenario where Gabriel isn’t in New York this year.

Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson: +1600
Another week. Another win for Clemson. Another dominant performance by Klubnik.
Klubnik’s Heisman stock continues to rise as, week by week, he puts up eye-popping numbers and his team keeps winning games. The Tigers’ junior signal-caller was phenomenal again on Saturday, completing 23 of his 35 attempts for 308 yards and three touchdowns. All three of Klubnik’s TD passes came in the second half, including a 40-yarder to tight end Olsen Patt-Henry that broke the game open for the Tigers in the third quarter.

Carson Beck, QB, Georgia: +2500
Beck did not have his best outing on Saturday, but a win is a win, and that’s exactly what the Bulldogs got against the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. The senior signal-caller completed 23 of 41 passes for 175 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in the victory over Texas. Through seven games this season, Beck has thrown for 1,993 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
