One player whose odds every bettor should be eyeing is rookie phenom Paul Skenes.
On the night of his first start, Skenes had +15000 odds to win the Cy Young. Now, he has skyrocketed up the board and has the third-best odds in the NL at +500.
Fun fact: The only rookie to win the Cy Young was Fernando Venezuela in 1981.

Before Skenes was announced as a starter for the 2024 All-Star Game, FOX Sports Lead MLB Analyst and Hall of Fame pitching great John Smoltz said the LSU product certainly deserved the opportunity.
“From a standpoint of excitement, yeah — and stuff and raw talent, probably yes,” Smoltz said.
“Whenever, though, you’re talking about rewarding somebody for starting the All-Star Game and somebody who’s pitched all year and is deserving, I think that’s where the nod should go.”
