2024 MLB MVP odds: Shohei Ohtani moving up National League oddsboard
The MLB season is off and swinging, and Mookie Betts and Juan Soto remain the favorites to win MVP for each league — but both have some stiff competition.
Betts’ odds of winning the National League MVP sit at +155, while reigning MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. has seen his odds lengthen from +600 a few weeks ago to +1300 as of May 8.
In second is Betts’ teammate, Shohei Ohtani, who has increased his production recently in his first season with the Dodgers.
As of May 9, Ohtani is tied at second on the MLB home run leaderboard with 11, leads the league in batting average at .355, and has the most hits in the league with 54.
He has taken the year off from pitching to recover from an injured elbow ligament.
Betts is third in batting average (.346) and second in hits (53) as of Thursday.
In mid-April, Ohtani was at +1400, fifth on the oddsboard behind Betts, Acuna, Fernando Tatis Jr. and another Dodgers teammate, Freddie Freeman.
Freeman has since dipped from +1000 all the way to +3700.

Making a giant jump up the oddsboard is Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who now sits at +500, good for the third-best odds in the AL.
