After landing Aaron Rodgers prior to last season, expectations were set at an all-time high for the New York Jets in 2023. However, four snaps into the season opener against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium, the star quarterback ruptured his Achilles tendon and missed the remainder of the season.
The Jets finished the season 7-10, mostly behind their stellar defense that only allowed 20.9 points per game in 2023.
Now, three games into this season, with Rodgers healthy and firing, the Jets are 2-1, having won two in a row after an understandable season-opening loss at San Francisco.
Rodgers has 624 passing yards, five touchdowns and one pick. He’s completing 67.4% of his passes and has a 103.1 passer rating, good for seventh in the NFL.
After Rodgers is Sam Darnold, who has had an impressive resurgence three weeks into the season.
Coming into this season, Darnold had just seven starts under his belt in 2022 and 2023 combined. He was 4-3 in those seven starts.
Now, Darnold is 3-0 as the starter in Minnesota, including wins over the Niners and Texans.
He’s thrown for 657 passing yards, a league-leading eight touchdowns and just two picks. His 117.3 passer rating is second in the NFL.
