As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, all eyes are on the Chicago Bears and USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams.

The Bears own the first pick of April’s draft, but have former first-round pick Justin Fields as their starting QB.

Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, remains the odds-on favorite to hear his name called first on draft night.

And his odds keep getting shorter.

Back on Oct. 23, Williams sat at -310. At the end of the calendar year, his odds to go No. 1 were -500. He was at -1200 for several weeks, but those odds have shortened even more to -1500.

Drake Maye of the North Carolina Tar Heels is the second QB on the board behind Williams. His odds have moved from +700 to +1000.

Let’s dive into the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.

Chicago is the wild card of the draft. The Bears drafted Fields with the No. 11 pick in 2021.

FOX Sports College Football Analyst Joel Klatt released his first mock draft and has the Bears moving Fields and selecting Williams.

“I truly believe Chicago is going to end up trading Justin Fields and pick Williams with the No. 1 overall pick. I know that this is the consensus, but there are a lot of things that make sense in this pick for me. Williams’ talent can’t be overlooked. He’s been the closest thing to Patrick Mahomes in college football for the last two years. In so many ways, he’s even more polished and, at least in college, was better than Mahomes was at Texas Tech.”

Williams threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and just five interceptions last season. As a sophomore, he tallied 4,537 passing yards, 45 TDs and five INTs.

Joel Klatt’s Mock Draft: Where will Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr. go?

Maye threw for 4,321 yards, 38 scores and seven INTs in 2022, then threw for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.

Klatt has Maye going second to the Washington Commanders.

“If Williams wasn’t in the draft, Maye would be a slam dunk No. 1 overall pick,” Klatt said.

“He is a bit Josh Allen 2.0 for me and when you look at him in college, he’s better than what Allen was at Wyoming. He’s big. There is some athleticism in the pocket. But then his ability to get the ball out and on target is pretty exquisite.”

Daniels, the reigning Heisman winner, will go third to the New England Patriots, Klatt projected.

Daniels’ odds to go No. 1 recently moved to +2500 from +4000.

“Daniels was sensational as the Heisman Trophy winner this past season and he does so many things that should translate to the modern NFL,” Klatt said.

“Ten years ago, I think there would have been a bigger debate surrounding Daniels because he’s not the biggest quarterback (6-foot-4, 210 pounds). But his mobility and athleticism, along with his ability to attack down the field by throwing the ball in intermediate and downfield zones, make him very attractive to the next level.”
