After Week 3 of the NFL season, a new name has emerged at the top of the MVP oddsboard.

Buffalo’sJosh Allen leads the way as the lone favorite to win the prestigious award.

His odds in the market moved to +200 from +400 after the Bills defeated the Jaguars on Monday Night Football. In that matchup, Allen threw for 263 yards, four touchdowns and picked up another 44 yards rushing.

Patrick Mahomes, who was favored heading into Week 3, moved to +300 from +370. However, Allen’s shift moved Mahomes to second.

Power Rankings: 49ers & Bengals fall, Seahawks rise & Josh Allen, Bills top 5?

Aaron Rodgers surging to +1700 from +3000 is perhaps the most significant jump.

In the Jets’ 24-3 win over New England, Rodgers wowed with 281 yards through the air, two TDs and 18 yards on the ground.

“What Aaron Rodgers did last Thursday night in the New York Jets’ home opener was heralded as a ‘vintage’ performance,” FOX Sports NFL writer Ralph Vacchiano said. “It was as if he turned back the clock three years to his back-to-back MVP seasons.

“He suddenly wasn’t a 40-year-old quarterback recovering from a major injury — he was right in the middle of his prime.”

Other shifts include C.J. Stroud moving to +1100 from +550 and Jalen Hurts jumping to +1200 from +1700.

Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson saw his odds shorten to +1500 from +2000 after the Ravens defeated the Cowboys 28-25.

Is it time to jump off the Cowboys bandwagon before it derails?

As for best bets for the award, FOX Sports betting expert Jason McIntyre has you covered with his three best bets for NFL MVP:

Editor’s Note: Bets placed on 7/25/2024

Here are two things we know about NFL MVP: the last non-QB to win the award was Adrian Peterson in 2012, and, before that, it was LaDainian Tomlinson (2006).

To tally that up, 16 of the last 18 winners have been quarterbacks.

Last year, Lamar Jackson had 15-1 odds to win the MVP and ended up stealing it with a December surge past … Brock Purdy.

Here are three guys I’m taking a flier on this year*:

Jalen Hurts

The addition of Saquon Barkley could have a massive impact on the offense, similar to how Christian McCaffrey transformed the 49ers. The schedule for Hurts is very favorable, and the Eagles could lead the league in offense. Hurts may be the best QB in the NFC by midseason, and these odds will shrink, so take them now.

PICK: Jalen Hurts to win 2024 NFL MVP (+1500)

Jared Goff

The media seems to really like Goff, or perhaps it’s his awesome story of redemption — kicked to the curb by the Rams, and then gets to within 3 points of a Super Bowl with the “lowly Lions”.

Goff may not be a top-3 player for the Lions, but if Detroit wins 12 to 13 games, he’ll certainly be in the discussion.

PICK: Jared Goff to win 2024 NFL MVP (+2000)

What does Jalen Hurts have to prove this season?

Anthony Richardson

He’s a long-shot bet, especially for a 22-year-old who played in four games and threw three TD passes. But, he’s got one of the best young play-callers in Shane Steichen, and the late-season schedule is perhaps the weakest in the NFL: at New England, bye, at Denver, vs. Tennessee, at Giants, vs. Jaguars.

A 5-0 finishing kick could get them to 11 wins, which would vault him firmly in the mix for the MVP.

PICK: Anthony Richardson to win 2024 NFL MVP (+3000)
