The Braves are no longer second on the title board. They currently sit in fourth, behind the Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies.
On Sunday’s episode of “Flippin’ Bats,” co-host Ben Verlander broke down how Acuna’s injury could impact Atlanta.
“Let’s not forget … 2021. When Ronald Acuna, that injury happened and tore his ACL and missed the year — they went on to win the World Series without Ronald Acuna in that lineup.
“Is it possible? Yes. Spencer Strider being out kills them but Max Fried is pitching like the best pitcher in baseball over the last month or so. He’s been great. They’ve done it before without Acuna.”

On the other hand, FOX Sports MLB writer Rowan Kavner thinks Atlanta might have a tough road ahead.
“They still have talent throughout the lineup to make a deep run (they did it without Acuña in 2021),” Kavner wrote, “but their chances of winning a title take a substantial hit, and the road ahead is significantly more treacherous now, especially with the way the Phillies are playing.
While Atlanta’s odds have lengthened, a team whose odds have surged over the last week is Kansas City.
The Royals’ World Series title odds have moved to +2500 from +5000.
