Detroit Pistons losing streak: One away from tying NBA consecutive loss record, lines
Detroit has a problem: Simply put, it can’t win a game.
After starting the season 2-1, the Pistons are in the midst of a 26-game losing streak — tying the NBA record for futility.
Brooklyn beat visiting Detroit 126-115 on Saturday night to tie the record.
In 2010-11, the season after LeBron James left Cleveland for Miami, the Cavaliers lost 26 consecutive games. They would finish that season with a record of 19-63.
In 2013-14, the Philadelphia 76ers tied the Cavs’ record with 26 straight defeats and also finished the season 19-63.
Will the Pistons make it to 27 and break the NBA record?
Next, Detroit will play host to the Nets on Tuesday night.
The odds for the game have yet to get posted so check back for updates.
The Pistons lead the all-time series against the Nets 110-82.
Betting writer Ben Fawkes tweeted that if a bettor put down $100 on the Oklahoma City Thunder on the moneyline against Detroit on Oct. 30 and rolled over the winnings throughout the streak, the bettor would be ahead more than $343,000.
If bettors still want a big payday involving the Pistons, Detroit’s odds to win the NBA title this season sit at +100000 (bet $10 to win $10,010 total).
Five other teams – the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards – also are at +100000.
Let’s take a look at the losing streak in its entirety.
