Padres vs. Orioles (4:05 p.m. ET on FS1 and the FOX Sports app)

Probable starters: TBD, San Diego vs. Dean Kremer, Baltimore (4.43 ERA)

San Diego is in the thick of the NL wild-card mix, thanks to an All-Star campaign from Jurickson Profar (16 home runs, 62 RBIs, .478 slugging percentage) and reputable seasons from starting pitchers Michael King (3.28 ERA), Matt Waldron (3.64 ERA) and Dylan Cease (3.50 ERA), who just hurled the franchise’s second no-hitter.

Baltimore’s offense has been a well-oiled machine, leading MLB in home runs (160) and slugging percentage (.451), while right-handed ace Corbin Burnes (2.45 ERA) has been tremendous, headlined by starting for the AL in the All-Star Game. The Orioles are tied for the best record in the AL (61-41).

Yankees vs. Red Sox (7:15 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app)

Probable starters: Marcus Stroman, New York (3.51 ERA) vs. Kutter Crawford, Boston (3.37 ERA)

New York once held the best record in baseball but have now lost 22 of their past 32 games. Aaron Judge and offseason pickup Juan Soto have been the best offensive duo in the sport for the Yankees, combining for 61 home runs and 161 RBIs and each boasting an OPS north of 1.000. Meanwhile, right-hander Luis Gil (3.10 ERA) is in the midst of a breakout season.

The Red Sox have catapulted their way into the playoff mix, being just one game out of the third AL wild-card seed (54-47). Their rotation has led the way, with Tanner Houck (2.71 ERA) and the aforementioned Crawford (3.37 ERA) having high-level seasons. Meanwhile, outfielder Jarren Duran (.292/.353/.512 slash line) was an All-Star, and veteran Tyler O’Neill has launched 20 home runs.

Mariners vs. White Sox (7:15 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app)

Probable starters: Bryan Woo, Seattle (2.54 ERA) vs. Erick Fedde, Chicago (2.98 ERA)

Once in possession of a commanding lead in the AL West, Seattle has slipped to second in the division. Starting pitching has kept the Mariners afloat, as Logan Gilbert (2.72 ERA), George Kirby (3.20 ERA), Luis Castillo (3.38 ERA) and Bryce Miller (3.41 ERA) have been stellar. That said, Seattle is 28th in runs scored (390).

It has been a miserable season for the White Sox, who have the worst record in the sport (27-78) and are last in runs (324). The aforementioned Fedde and left-hander Garrett Crochet (3.07 ERA, 157 strikeouts) have been the bright spots for Chicago and are subsequently prime trade candidates.

Five burning questions at the trade deadline:Rowan Kavner and Deesha Thosar offer their takes on whether the Orioles should go all-in on Tarik Skubal, who lands the White Sox stars and what the Yankees, Red Sox and Padres should do at the deadline.

Three reasons why the Tigers shouldn’t trade Skubal (to the Dodgers, Yankees or Orioles): Tarik Skubal is the most coveted player at the trade deadline and could fetch a huge haul. But Detroit would be wise to hold onto its ace, Thosar writes.

Dodgers still need another ace: Clayton Kershaw’s return is an important boost for a depleted rotation, but it shouldn’t impact the Dodgers’ search for an ace as the trade deadline nears, Kavner writes.
