Ford F-150 gets new base engine, new tailgate, design updates for 2024

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. is freshening the F-150 lineup for the 2024 model year and planning to double output of the hybrid variant as it seeks to maintain the truck’s sales dominance.

The updated pickup, which goes on sale early next year, was revealed late Tuesday ahead of the 2023 Detroit auto show. It includes freshened hybrid, Tremor and Raptor variants with new design elements and improved tailgate functionality.

The 2024 F-150 will start at $38,565 including shipping. Other pricing information was unavailable, although Ford said the build and price website would go live concurrently or right after Tuesday’s unveiling.

While most of the truck’s body was untouched, designers updated the front with a new grille, hood and headlights. An optional Pro Access tailgate contains a side-swinging door for easier access to the bed.

“Built Ford Tough is more than a motto; it’s part of our mission at Ford to reach further, always strive for more and never rest for F-150 owners,” John Emmert, Ford truck general manager, said in a statement. “We see it as our duty to deliver not just what our customers want and need, but what they never thought possible.”
