Tom Brady’s NFL career: By the numbers
Tom Brady is officially retiring from the NFL “for good.” He made his announcement Wednesday morning on social media.
After seven Super Bowl wins, five Super Bowl MVPs, three league MVPs and 15 Pro Bowl selections, the undisputed GOAT has decided to walk away from football.
Brady’s body of work is something the sports world might never witness again.
Here are some of the statistics that tell the story of Brady’s incredible 23-year tenure.
89,214: Brady is by far the NFL‘s all-time leader in passing yards, with a whopping 89,214. For context, that’s just more than 50 milesof yardage on the football field.
649: Brady tossed 649 touchdowns in his career, for an average of 28.2 per season.
98: Brady was quite the giver throughout his career, sharing the touchdown wealth among a host of receivers — 98 of them, to be exact.
251: He has the most regular-season wins for a QB by far, as well as the most playoff wins (35).
7,753: That’s just thenumber of completions Brady compiled during his career, also the most in NFL history.
19: Did we mention that Brady is good at winning? He collected 19 division titles and reached the playoffs in 20 of his 21 seasons as a starting QB. He’s also the only QB to win each of his first 10 career playoff starts.
204: Brady has sole ownership of the record for most games with two-plus pass TDs, with 204. He also has the most career games with three-plus pass TDs (104) and four-plus pass TDs (39).
32: Brady has wins over every NFL team. He’s one of just four QBs who can lay claim to that accomplishment, and only he and Peyton Manning have started and won Super Bowls for multiple teams.
Brady announces retirement after 23 seasons
9: Brady’s consistency is jaw-dropping: Through his 20 full seasons as a starting QB, he only has one season in which he did not win nine games — this past season with the Buccaneers, going 8-9 as NFC South champions.
13: Brady holds the record for most consecutive 10-win seasons by a starting QB with 13, and most consecutive 11-win seasons (12).
335: Brady played in the most regular-season games of any man who wasn’t a kicker (335) and started in the most playoff games as well (48).
13,400: Brady not only holds the record for regular season pass yards, but also playoff passing yards. That number is over 6,000 yards more than the next best on the list — Peyton Manning.
88: Brady has 88 career passing TDs in the playoffs, almost double that of Joe Montana and Aaron Rodgers, who are both tied for the second-most with 45.
5: Brady is the only player to win five Super Bowl MVPs. Two more than Joe Montana who has the second-most with three.
28: This is an astonishing fact, as 28 is the number of franchises that Tom Brady has more playoff wins than in the Super Bowl era. Brady has 35 career playoff wins, the most of any player all-time. He trails only the Steelers, Patriots, Cowboys, and 49ers who have 36 each – just one more than Brady.
2022: His last season was nothing to forget either, as the 45-year-old finished first in completions (490), third in pass yards (4,694) and in the top 10 of both passing touchdowns (25, T-eighth) and completion percentage (66.8% — ninth).
