World Series Game 4 highlights: Rangers rout Diamondbacks to go up 3-1 in series
Game 4 of the 2023 World Series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks started with the news that Texas would be without ALCS MVP Adolis García and prized trade-deadline acquisition Max Scherzer. It ended with the Rangers routing the Diamondbacks in Arizona 11-7 to take a 3-1 series lead.
Texas led 10-0 after three innings thanks in large part to its $500 million middle infield of Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Semien’s two-run triple followed by Seager’s two-run home run in the second inning gave the Rangers a five-run lead before Semien broke it open with a three-run home run in the third.
Jonah Heim added a home run in the eighth inning, and the D-backs clawed some late runs back thanks in large part to Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s four-RBI performance, including an eighth-inning three-run home run.
Josh Jung also played offensive catalyst in addition to his usually stellar defense, getting three hits and scoring the game’s first run on a wild pitch. Travis Jankowski also performed admirably in his first playoff start in García’s place, with two runs, two hits and two RBIs.
The Rangers can now close out the Diamondbacks and win the first World Series title in their 63-year franchise history with a victory Wednesday (5:03 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App.)

Marte’s record grows!
Ketel Marte’s leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning means that his MLB-record postseason hit streak has now reached an incredible 20 games.
Chaos averted
Marte tried to stay true to the D-backs’ mentality of causing chaos on the basepaths, but Rangers catcher Jonah Heim was ready to nab Arizona’s leadoff man attempting to steal second base.
Baxter Lightyear?
Arizona’s mascot D. Baxter the Bobcat is getting his “Toy Story” on for Halloween.
Jung and restless!
It’s Texas’ turn to play small ball as Josh Jung doubled, advanced to third on a groundout then scored on a wild pitch for the game’s first run.
Semien comes through!
Marcus Semien has officially shaken off a rough playoff stretch with a two-out, two-run triple to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead in the second inning.
WORLD. SERIES. SEAGER.
Corey Seager crushed another one to the deepest part of Chase Field for his third two-run in four games of this World Series, padding his status as the all-time leader in World Series home runs among MLB shortstops.
Rangers are raking!
Travis Jankowski, starting in place of the injured Adolis García, hit a two-run, bases-loaded single to extend the inning — only for Semien to follow up by crushing a three-run home run to give the Rangers a 10-0 lead and their second five-spot in as many innings.
Social media responds to Rangers raking
“Celebrities” in the Chase Field stands on Halloween!
Plenty of costumed fans in attendance.
What a catch!
This great sliding grab from Travis Jankowski ended the seventh inning — and avoided a scary collision with Marcus Semien.
Heim time!
Jonah Heim added another for Texas on a solo home run into the Rangers’ bullpen in right field — tracked down by closer José Leclerc, who is likely getting the night off with his team up 10.
UNBELIEVABLE Corey Seager stat
Do we have a new Mr. October?
Snakes still slightly alive
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. gets some runs back with a three-run home run to center field, Arizona’s first home run since Game 2.
